Award-Winning Take a Hike Tours

Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation is proud to announce that Dominion East Ohio and Inside Business have recognized the Take a Hike tours with a 2014 Dominion Community Impact Award.  Each year, Dominion East Ohio and Inside Business recognize nonprofits that have worked to make Northeast Ohio communities better places to live, work and play.  From revitalizing hard-hit neighborhoods into centers for art, culture and entertainment to preserving an untouched stretch of land for outdoor activities of all sorts, this year’s winners represent the region’s creativity, resourcefulness and potential.  To read the Inside Business article on the Take a Hike tours, click here.

Take a Hike, presented by Dollar Bank, has educated and entertained 13,600 attendees during the last five seasons.  Attendees have been exposed to all that the Gateway District, Warehouse District, PlayhouseSquare, Civic Center and Canal Basin Park neighborhoods offer.  Restaurants, bars, stores and attractions in the tour areas have benefited from the tour foot traffic and increased awareness of their establishments.  Take  a Hike has a positive impact on the neighborhoods being toured, and the program has an incredible effect on the public’s perception of Downtown Cleveland.  Again and again, tour attendees are amazed by what they see and learn on Take a Hike tours.

Take a Hike is presented by Dollar Bank, and the program is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.  The tours also receive generous support from Ohio & Erie Canalway.

Program partners include Historic Warehouse District Development Corporation,PlayhouseSquareBob Zimmer of Keller WilliamsDowntown Cleveland Alliance,Cleveland Magazine, Canalway Partners and WDOK Cleveland’s New 102.

Thank you to the entire Take a Hike team and Take a Hike tour attendees for making the Take a Hike program possible and successful!
