Gateway District Signature Street Furniture Unveiled

Check out the new Gateway District signature street furniture, which was recently unveiled by Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation through the installation of the first two Sidewalk Parks.  A Sidewalk Park is a collection of street furniture installed on the sidewalk to create a public gathering space.  One Sidewalk Park is located near 1010 Euclid, and the other is located on Prospect Avenue near the 5th Street Arcades.

Specially designed for the Gateway District, the street furniture was designed by local artist Tom Hubbard and draws inspiration from the District’s turn of the century arcades and the decorative metal work found throughout the neighborhood.  With names like Arcade, Taylor, Brace, Teller and Balustrade these updated designs, while rooted in history, bring playfulness and functionality to the streets.

This pilot project was made possible with $40,000 seed funding from Historic Gateway Neighborhood Corporation and  additional support from Cumberland Development,LLCResidence Inn Downtown Cleveland, Geis Companies and Heinen’s.
